The Key to Style Success? Gurhan’s Guardian Necklace Collection of Replica Ancient Keys

Gurhan Guardian key jewelry collection

Las Vegas, May 31, 2019. Jewelry designer Gurhan Orhan takes another page from history in his latest jewelry collection, debuting at the Couture jewelry show this week. The esteemed Turkish artist offers a limited-edition 10-piece replica collection of ancient bronze keys for wear as pendant necklaces. Five depict Viking-era motifs and another five nod to Roman times.

Orhan puts the key motif in the spotlight because of the timely issue of women’s empowerment (think #metoo movement) and because keys have historical significance for the gender—women of the household were given keys after marriage.

“These keys became a symbol of the great responsibility they held for their household, their families, and their possessions,” explains the designer in an email interview.

In ancient times, these keys were finely crafted in bronze, and women often wore them on a belt or chain to display their status. Powerful women today don’t necessarily need to display their keys to success, but Orhan gives them this stylish homage and wearable historical option to do so.

“It seems fair to say that the women’s movement has never been stronger than in these past few years,” Orhan continues. “The Guardian Collection is the Gurhan way to express support for all women with uniquely beautiful designs that allow clients to create their own individual look.”

And while these keys won’t unlock any secret gold stashes or a new vacation home, they could open a door to heightened fashion savvy. For sure, they “pay tribute to the freedom and empowerment of today’s woman,” adds Orhan.

Key pendants are embellished with Gurhan’s signature 24k gold; feature gemstone accents like rubies, emeralds, and diamonds; and are available for wear on either 22k gold chains or silk cords. Each piece comes with a limited-edition design number in a wood-frame keepsake box also designed by Orhan.
