Las Vegas. Aug. 28, 2021. There’s a fun new and infinitely layerable 14k gold jewelry line debuting at JCK Las Vegas, and it’s from mother/daughter team Rimi and Manvi Golcha of Clarté. The name is French for “clarity,” a nod to two important components of the line: VS-SI quality diamonds and a desire for transparency in pricing, quality, and production of their diamond-rich yellow gold line of chain and geometric styles, modern illusion settings, and bold-gold effects.
“We wanted to make fine jewelry more attainable and give the consumer more—double the diamonds and design aspect compared to other brands,” says Manvi of her and her mother’s offerings. Manvi handles design while Rimi addresses pricing and sales.
Manvi is the fourth generation of an Indian family with jewelry roots; her father’s Valentine Jewels NY Inc. has been selling traditional diamond and gold illusion looks for 20 years, moving stateside from India in 1998. Clarté jewelry is made by Valentine’s seventh-generation craftsmen, who can deliver within three weeks. Manvi is a student of fine arts and marketing whose jewelry career budded at age 10 when she designed an initial necklace with a flat off-center M with pavé diamonds and a bezel-set diamond on the chain. From there, her father continued to nurture her growing interest in the family business, though his is private label. “She wants to create a brand,” he observes.
The idea for Clarté was born from the pandemic. As was the case for many, Golcha was housebound with her family in early 2020, spending a lot of time online. Collectors of fine jewelry themselves, they marveled at pretentious high-end jewelry ads that made the product seem unattainable. Their solution? Make a line that wasn’t with an aesthetic that was timely for the market. The Clarté customer is an emerging fine jewelry collector who wants style and substance at feasible prices. Clarté retails start at $500. Pieces are also available in 18k gold and platinum.
The jewelry features familiar motifs and looks (think curb and paper clip chains), but a developing signature style includes subtle but details like fine beading, threaded effects, and the illusion settings perfected in her dad’s body of work. She is debuting with several collections, including Formes, Gatsby, and Essentials (her basics). The takeaway: this is a competitively priced line for timeless modern looks without a big sticker price.
“I like to give the consumer much more bang for your buck,” says Manvi.
Buyers are already starting to notice. Golcha sold 50 pairs each of a matching gold and diamond link drop chain earring and pendant necklace on day one of the show.
